Discovery and Defintion

Just like any project, having a good foundation is key. The Discovery and Definition stage creates a deep understanding of your audience, goals, and what you want to get out of your website.

We work closely with you to identify the goals and objectives of your website.This includes understanding the purpose of the website, whether it’s to increase brand awareness, generate leads, sell products, or provide information.

We analyze competitors and industry leader websites to identify elements that we like and dislike. Reviewing these sites helps us create a unique and compelling online presence for your brand that you’ll love and we know will be a sucess.

Outling what content will be included on the site is crucial. Even just identifying the types of content needed, such as text, images, videos, and downloadable resources helps to plan ahead. Then we establish a plan for organizing and structuring the content to ensure optimal user experience and SEO.

Lastly we review the features and functionality that you want indluded on the site. This covers e-commerce catalogs, contact forms, organized CTAs, user profiles, user portals, social media integration, or any other higher-end functionality that you may need.

Site Architecture

Addressing the architecture of the site is a crucial step in creating a well-organized and user-friendly website. Here we focus first on the navigation then on the order of the content displayed on each page of the site.

We’ll start by laying the content out into logical groups. We need to make sure it makes sense to both you as the owner but also to a consumer coming into the site.

Information heirarchy is where we determine which of the information takes priority over other information. Top selling products and services should be prominent, while less important content can be moved down into subcategories or secondary pages.

Once we know this information we can lay out the navigation structure of the website into understandable menu(s) as needed.

This stage of planning helps us to make sure users can easily find what they are looking for but more importantly, a well-structured website helps to improve search engine optimization (SEO).

Wireframing

What we call the wireframing stage is a vital step in the design process of your website. Here we focus is on creating the visual blueprint or “skeleton” of the website. Wireframing involves outlining the layout and placement of key elements without incorporating detailed design elements or colors.

This stage allows us to work through the layout of key elements such as the header, navigation, content sections, CTAs, sidebar, footer, and any other essential components that the site may require.

Addressing the content layout during the wireframing stage helps to keep the project time and our overall costs down. It’s far more efficient to work throuigh and edit the layout when working within wireframes than in actual design documents or even when coding out the site.

It’s also a great team exercise and opportunity to gather feedback from other company owners to ensure nothing is missing before going to design and development.

It is easier and less time-consuming to modify wireframes compared to making changes during the later stages of development.

Remember these wireframes are NOT intended to be visually appealing. Wireframes are used to present (in black and white) the layout and structure rather than the final aesthetics. Once the wireframes are approved, we can move on to the fun stuff!
